Quality & product safety
Good product information is part of good nail work. Check the label, intended use and manufacturer instructions before opening a product or using it on a client.
Read the label before use
Look for the product name, intended purpose, ingredient list, batch identification, warnings, nominal quantity and the relevant durability information. Check the name and address of the EU responsible person on the label; imported cosmetics must also identify their country of origin where required. The package may carry a best-before date or a period-after-opening symbol, depending on the product and applicable rules. Follow the actual label rather than assuming every gel or care product has the same shelf life.
EU cosmetic labelling and product responsibilities are set out in Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. An ordinary cosmetic does not acquire a CE mark as proof of cosmetic safety. Electrical equipment follows different rules. Do not treat a general badge as a substitute for product-specific information.
Important EU ingredient restrictions
For EU nail products containing HEMA or Di-HEMA Trimethylhexyl Dicarbamate, the restricted use is professional-only and the prescribed allergy warning must be present. A HEMA-free claim alone does not establish suitability for every user. Check the complete ingredient list and the intended user. The requirements are set out in Regulation (EU) 2020/1682.
Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide (TPO) has been prohibited in EU cosmetic products since 1 September 2025. This covers professional nail use; old stock is not a general exception. See the European Commission’s TPO guidance. This explains the rule, rather than claiming a laboratory test of every catalogue item. If an ingredient list is missing, unclear or appears to include TPO, contact us before purchasing or using the item so we can verify the information.
Use the manufacturer’s system and instructions
Check the intended lamp, application thickness, curing instructions and the recommended base or top. Matching a claimed wattage alone does not prove adequate curing. Do not create a universal cure-time rule across brands. Keep uncured product off skin, work with appropriate ventilation and follow the relevant protective measures and training.
“HEMA-free” or another ingredient claim is not a promise that a product cannot cause allergy. Avoid use on irritated or damaged skin and do not continue using a product that produces a suspected reaction. Get appropriate medical advice for symptoms.
What our information does and does not establish
The store presents the product information available for the item offered and seeks to correct identified errors. We do not claim that every cosmetic has been independently tested in our own laboratory, that every item is suitable for every user or that all brands are interchangeable. Where a specific verified manufacturer document applies to a product, that document should be identified rather than implied by a generic statement.
For storage checks, see Storage & shelf life. For training and intended-use questions, see Professional use.
Report a suspected product issue
Stop using an item that appears unsafe. Contact info@belom.eu with the product name, order number if purchased here, batch number, what you observed and any helpful photos. Do not send medical records or a leaking product without asking about safe handling. We will assess the issue and the appropriate next step, including contacting the supplier where necessary.
Our Returns & refunds process covers faulty and incorrectly supplied goods. Reporting a safety concern does not remove statutory rights, and opening a faulty product is not a reason to dismiss the concern.
